Glow Skin ("Glow Skin", "we", "us") is a skincare and haircare ingredient scanner. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Glow Skin provides cosmetic information only and is not a medical service and does not provide medical advice or diagnosis.

Information we collect

• Account & identifiers. When you use Glow Skin we create an account via Firebase Authentication (including Sign in with Apple). We store a user identifier so your data syncs across sessions.
• Skin & hair profile. Quiz answers you provide — such as skin/hair type, concerns, sensitivities, goals, and SPF habits — used to personalise your analyses and routines.
• Scans & analyses. Products you scan (barcodes or ingredient-label photos), your scan history, saved products, and routines. Photos you capture for face, hair, or label analysis are sent to our AI provider for processing; we store the resulting analysis (e.g. scores and recommendations), not the raw photo. Our guided face scan uses Apple’s ARKit face tracking (TrueDepth) only on your device to align the camera and guide the capture; we do not collect, store, or transmit TrueDepth depth data, face geometry, or any biometric identifiers, and this data is never shared with third parties.
• Location (optional). With your permission, your approximate device location is used to find nearby salons in Local Discovery. We do not store your coordinates; we only retain a place identifier for places you view.
• Usage & diagnostics. Basic in-app events and crash/performance data to improve the app.
• Purchases. Subscription status processed by Apple and our subscription provider (Adapty). We do not receive your full payment card details.

Face & hair photo data

When you use Face Analysis or Hair Score (and the optional outfit/makeup checks), the photo(s) you capture are used solely to generate your analysis:

• What we collect and why. Face photos and hair/scalp photos you choose to capture are processed to produce your skin or hair analysis (scores and recommendations). The Hair Score uses an ordinary camera photo (no TrueDepth or biometric data).
• What we store. We store only the resulting analysis on our servers, associated with your account identifier, for as long as your account is active. We do not store the raw face or hair photos — they are discarded after processing and are never written to our servers, databases, or file storage.
• Who we share this data with. Face and hair photos are sent to Google LLC (Gemini API), our AI provider, for the sole purpose of generating your analysis.
• Does Google store face data? Yes, temporarily. Google logs API prompts and responses — including submitted images — for up to 55 days. Google stores this data solely to detect and prevent violations of its Prohibited Use Policy (abuse monitoring), to maintain the safety and security of its services, and for any required legal or regulatory disclosures; 55 days is Google’s standard retention window for this abuse-monitoring purpose, after which the data is deleted. Google does not use this content to train or improve its AI models (see Google’s Gemini API terms and usage policies).
• No other third parties receive your face or hair photos, and this data is never used for advertising, tracking, or identification purposes.

How we use information

• To provide and personalise scans, face/hair analysis, routines, and reminders.
• To operate your account and sync your data.
• To process and manage subscriptions.
• To improve reliability and understand which features are used.

Third-party services

We share data only as needed to operate these services:

• Apple — Sign in with Apple, App Store purchases, push notifications.
• Google Firebase — authentication, push messaging (FCM), analytics.
• Google Gemini (Google LLC) — AI processing of scan/label/face/hair images and text to generate analyses. Google temporarily stores submitted content (including images) for up to 55 days solely for abuse monitoring, as described in the "Face & hair photo data" section above; it is not used to train Google’s models.
• AppsFlyer — install attribution, to measure which marketing campaigns lead to app installs. Only with your permission (via Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt) is the device advertising identifier (IDFA) used for this; if you decline, campaigns are measured only in aggregate, without your identifier. Face photos, hair photos, and analysis results are never shared with AppsFlyer.
• Adapty — subscription management and purchase analytics.
• Open Beauty Facts — public product/ingredient lookups (outbound queries only).

We do not sell your personal information.

Data storage & retention

Your data is stored on our servers, associated with your account identifier, and cached locally on your device. We keep it while your account is active. You can request deletion at any time (see below); deleting your account removes your profile, scans, analyses, routines, and saved items. Raw face, hair, and label photos are not retained by us at all (see "Face & hair photo data" above); our AI provider deletes its temporary abuse-monitoring logs after at most 55 days.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the EU GDPR, California CCPA, and India DPDP), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Children

Glow Skin is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes

We may update this policy and will revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated in-app where appropriate.
